What Is It?
This connects you with books written by our members. We don't actually sell books, we just point you to where they can be purchased. The page works just like the writings search engine, complete with the ability to save searches.

Edit Search
The Edit Search panel contains the main filter controls. Pick what you want and the index of titles - off to the right - will update on its own. The index will show up to 100 titles at a time.

If the index ever goes blank then your filter is too restrictive and needs to be loosened some. Click on the small white circles to the left of each field or click the Clear button to start with a clean slate.

The buttons at the very bottom of the panel are for saving searches. For info on how they work run your cursor over the title at the top of the panel.

Searches
This panel contains a list of your Saved Searches. Since we often go searching for the same things time and again, this lets us do that without having to reconfigure the search engine.

The Watch Light
Off on the far right of the screen are four circles arranged almost like a stop light. This is the watch light and it filters the page by way of who has written what and how you are watching them.

The Awesome - Clicking the top button only shows you work by the Awesome.

The Alright - Clicking the second button down shows you work by the Awesome and the Alright.

The Accepted - Clicking the third button down shows you works by everyone in your watchlist.

The Off - Clicking the last button turns the watch light off.

Watch Light settings are kept separate from your saved searches so you can change them without changing the search itself.

If you are looking for a certain person, type in their name or what you can remember of it.
This separates works by their color. Click on a block to select it, and it will light up with the chosen color. Click again to deselect it.

If certain ratings such as R and NC-17 are not available that is because the master content control does not allow them. To change this see Content in Preferences.
This controls what you want displayed in the list.

Book Covers displays the cover art.

This is the language the work is written in. Leaving it blank will bring back every language we have.

If you are signed into the system then it will only offer those languages in which something has been written. Otherwise it lists every language we know of.
This separates works by length. Keep in mind that length is relative to the work's nature. A Huge poem will be much shorter than a Huge essay.

Click a block to select it. Click it again to deselect it.
This is a list of content keywords. To add to them click the button off to the right.

To remove a keyword, click on it.

This is the name of your saved search.

Setting it to Active promotes the search to the top of your Searches.
Nature is the type of book you are looking for. In case you want to narrow down to just a poetry collection or novel, etc.
This controls what floats to the top of the display.

The default is Best Picks which puts at the top of the page those works which have had the most positive picks. It ignores negative and neutral picks.
This displays works based on how you have picked them. They show those you have....

Disliked read and disliked.

Neutral read and have no opinion on.

Liked read and liked.

Loved read and loved.

Unread not read yet.
This separates works by refinement - how finished the author believes the work to be. Click a block to select it. Click it again to deselect it.
This your current search. It will show the name you gave it or say Open Search if no saved search is in use.

Saved Searches lets you configure the search engine and store those settings for later use. This is done using the five buttons at the bottom of the page.

Save - The button panel will light up whenever you've made a change. Clicking this button saves the changes and returns the panel to normal.

Copy - Clicking this button will prompt you for a name then save your current search under it. Use copy for making duplicates of your favorite searches.

Clear - This returns all controls to their default settings without severing ties to the saved search.

New - This unloads the current search, making way for a new one. It returns all controls to their default settings.

Erase - This deletes the current search and returns all controls to their default settings.

You may store up to 30 saved searches before having to prune out some old ones. To see a list of your saved searches click on the Searches tab above.

If you are looking for a certain title and know just a part of it, type it in this box. It will return any work with that word or phrase in it.
