What Is It?
This lets you search out different members of the site. It works just like the writings search engine, complete with the ability to save searches.

Edit Search
This panel contains the main filter controls. As you change them the list of people - off to the right - will update on its own. If the list ever goes blank then your filter is too restrictive and needs to be loosened some. Click on the small white circles to the left of each field or click the Clear button at the bottom to start with a clean slate.

The buttons at the very bottom of the page are for saving searches. For more on them run your cursor over the title at the top of the search controls.

Searches
This panel contains a list of your Saved Searches. Since we often go searching for the same things time and again, this lets us do so without having to reconfigure the search engine. Simply tap on the name of the one you want to see.

The Watch Light
Off to the far right of the screen are four circles arranged almost like a stop light. This is the watch light and it filters by way of how you are watching people.

The Awesome - Clicking the top button shows only those you have marked as Awesome.

The Alright - Clicking the second button down shows you the Awesome and the Alright.

The Accepted - Clicking the third button down shows you everyone in your watchlist.

The Off - Clicking the last button turns the watch light off.

Watch Light settings are kept separate from your saved searches so you can change them without changing the search itself.

This filters by way of people's birth month.
This filters by way of people's birth year.

Use the second box to specify a range. +/- 3 years will bring back everyone whose birth year is within three years of the birth year you specify.
These are freeflow filters. Pop into them anything you like.

Write in Rocket From the Crypt for Music and it will bring back anyone who has included that band in the Favorite Music section of their profile.
This filters by way of people's gender.
Keywords lets you filter by way of the keys people have attached to themselves. What they enjoy, basically. To add to them click the button off to the right.

To remove a keyword, click on it.
Identity usually refers to the type of writing one does. Try Poet, Novelist, or Playwright.
Keywords lets you search out people based on what they enjoy.

Available keywords are the ones you might want to search for. Click to add. Favorites is a list of keywords which comes from what you have used with your own creations.

It is a bit of a long-shot, but if you cannot find a keyword you can Write One In. Tap into its oval, write it out and then click to add it to your keyword list.

Possessed keywords are the ones you are searching for. Click them to remove them.

Once finished click the Close button to return to the Edit Search panel.
This filters by way of people's preferred language.

When signed into the system it will show only those languages people have selected.

Otherwise it brings back a list of every available language.
Admittedly we do get a large number of people who create an account and disappear. The Must Haves is a quick way of filtering them out.

With each of these a person must have at least 1 in order to be included in the list.

The only exception is super which separates those who have subscribed to the site and are supporting if from those who have not.
This is the name of your saved search.

Setting it to Active promotes it to the top of your Searches.
This is for tracking down a member by their name or a part of it, in case you can't remember the whole thing.
This filters by way of people's nationality.

When signed into the system it will show only those nationalities people have mentioned in their profile.

Otherwise it brings back a list of every available nationality.
Search Order arranges the tiles of the people your search turns up.

Alphabetical arranges them alphabetically by name.

Greatest Acclaim puts at the top those with the greatest acclaim which is a factor based on watch status, positive picks, and eleven other secret herbs and spices.

Most Watched puts at the top those with the greatest number of watchers.

Most Prolific sorts by the greatest number of writings on the site.

Most Published sorts by the greatest number of books on the site.

Biggest Commentators puts at the top those who have made the most comments on other people's work.

Oldest Members puts the longest standing members at the top of the page.

Newest Members puts the newest members to the site at the top of the page.

It also controls the number of people returned. It is good to keep in mind that the more people you ask to see the longer it will take the search to happen.
This your current search. It will show the name you gave it or say Open Search if no saved search is in use.

Saved Searches lets you configure the search engine and store those settings for later use. This is done using the five buttons at the bottom of the page.

Save - The button panel will light up whenever you have made a change. Clicking this button saves the changes and returns the panel to normal.

Copy - Clicking this button will prompt you for a name then save your current search under it. Use copy for making duplicates of your favorite searches.

Clear - This returns all controls to their default settings without severing ties to the saved search.

New - This unloads the current search, making way for a new one. It returns all controls to their default settings.

Erase - This deletes the current search and returns all controls to their default settings.

You may store up to 30 saved searches before having to prune out some old ones. To see a list of your saved searches click on the Searches tab above.
